Artist Statement

I am a sculptor and installation artist living and working in Surrey.  I work in a diverse range of materials - including clay, resin, rubber, metal and wood - to create both large and domestic scale sculptures.

Although born in Scotland, I have lived most of my life in England, yet I retain a strong sense of my roots and upbringing.  Coming from a family of engineers, where practical skills were passed down through the generations, I developed a deep curiosity about how things work and a respect for materials and tools.  Problem-solving remains one of the great joys of making.

My practice centres on my relationship with the materials themselves - learning by working with them, embracing their challenges, and responding to the unexpected.  The process and ritual of making - the methodical, almost meditative state that arises through repetition and focus - is an essential part of my work.
